Harris wins $350M contract

Melbourne-based Harris Corp. has received a potential $350 million deal to build tactical combat radio systems for the U.S. Marine Corps, the company said late Wednesday. Terms extend production and delivery of the combat radios to the year 2013. The work is being done by Harris' RF Communications Division in Rochester, N.Y. It is the latest in a series of lucrative combat radio contracts that the company has received this year, including deals with Norway and Brunei. Overall, the deals are worth close to $600 million. Harris is the largest high-tech company based in Central Florida. It employs about 7,200 in Melbourne and Palm Bay.
