If you ever wanted to control where your tax dollars go, here's your chance to decide.
Players can choose from more than 100 policy cards. Explore the pros, cons and social impact of the most important policy issues and choices facing our country. Budget Hero players get immediate feedback on choices through a budget "skyline" that shows how their policies affect money for areas like defense, education and health care. Watch as meters show how choices affect national debt, the size of government and the year the budget goes bust (when there’s no money left beyond Social Security, health care and interest on debt. The game gives players an accurate yet simplified understanding of the federal budget).
Budget Hero is an engaging and factually sound game that encourages players to think through the complexities and challenges of the federal budget and the major policy issues of the 2008 election. It frames the policy debate as a set of federal budget choices determining how money will be raised and spent. Budget Hero forces players make tradeoffs and confront compromises inherent in balancing a budget. Can they be Budget Heroes by staying true to their values while creating a sustainable government?
